You Have Authority!

‘When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He went on from there to teach and preach in their cities. Now while in prison, John heard about the works of Christ, and he sent word by his disciples, and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or are we to look for someone else?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: those who are blind receive sight and those who limp walk, those with leprosy are cleansed and those who are deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is any person who does not take offense at Me.”‘ Matthew 11:1-6

The pastor at the church we attend referenced the above verses on Sunday. What he shared touched my heart because it is what the Holy Spirit has spoken to me about our ministry as well.

Jesus had just given His disciples instructions and had sent them on their way. Jesus wasn’t looking to grow people who would just follow Him on earth. He was sending them out to advance the Kingdom of God. We are to do the same. We are to gather, disciple and send. It is our tendency to become friends and then want to stay together. Friendship isn’t a bad thing but if we are wanting to follow the example of Christ we are to gather, glean and grow, and then go and sow. We can continue to love one another but we can’t advance the Kingdom if we continue to just gather amongst ourselves listening to someone do all the teaching and speaking. We read in Matthew 10 starting in verse 1 “Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness.  Friends, you have the authority through Christ Jesus to do the same! If you are having challenges believing that and therefore walking in your power and authority, let’s talk. RT4 House of Healing is here to help bring healing to memories, emotions and behaviours so that you can walk in your true God-given calling and destiny.  Contact me at [email protected]

We’ll talk about the rest of this verse on a later blog.
